Big LCS news this evening: Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon is set to leave Dignitas and join Evil Geniuses.
Huni, who spent the Spring season with Dignitas, is now poised for a mid-season move to Evil Geniuses. This move ends a saga where Huni became one of the highest-paid players in the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), according to ESPN. Back in early November, it was reported that Huni would earn $2.3 million in guaranteed money over two years from his contract with Dignitas. However, this deal is now set to end as Huni negotiates new terms with Evil Geniuses, which will likely be significantly lower.
One issue for Evil Geniuses is their high number of international players. LCS rules state that only two international players can play at any given time. With four already on the team’s 10-man roster, changes are likely to be forthcoming.
Huni and mid-laner Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro will likely be the starting international players. This leaves ADC Bae “Bang” Jun-sik and mid-laner Ahmad “Giyuu” Charif in the Academy or looking to move on. As a result, American Academy ADC Matthew “Deftly” Chen will likely start as the ADC.
Dignitas has allowed Huni to explore other opportunities in advance of the LCS Summer Split, as reported on April 4, 2020[1].
The LCS Summer Split begins on June 13. Dignitas has already made significant roster changes, replacing Huni with top laner Omran “V1per” Shoura and bringing in Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett as the new starting jungler for the Summer Split[1].
