A First-Class Facility

Located on the Syracuse University campus, the Gaming & Esports Center is touted as a first-class facility, equipped with the latest technology to enhance the gaming and esports experience. The center features virtual reality units, individual gaming stations and pods, and large screens for broadcasting. A dedicated broadcasting booth is also part of the setup, allowing for professional-grade streaming and production.

State-of-the-Art Equipment

The facility boasts state-of-the-art gaming equipment, including high-performance PCs with the latest generation processors, ample RAM, and top-tier graphics cards. Each gaming station is complemented by 24.5-inch gaming monitors with 1080p resolution and a 240 Hz refresh rate, ensuring a seamless and immersive gaming experience. Logitech gaming mice and mechanical keyboards further enhance the setup, while Secret Lab Omega and Titan chairs provide comfort during extended gaming sessions.

Community and Inclusivity

The Gaming & Esports Center is open to all students, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity. Whether you are a highly competitive gamer or just starting to explore the world of esports, the center offers a welcoming environment. Participation is free for valid Syracuse University or SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) student ID holders and Barnes Center membership holders 18 years or older. The facility operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a three-hour limit per session, ensuring everyone gets a chance to use the resources.

Diverse Gaming Options

The center is not limited to PC gaming; it also features consoles such as Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Analog gaming tables and SIM racing stations add to the variety, providing something for every type of gamer. A virtual reality unit and an extensive game library with over 50 console game titles, plus a variety of PC and VR games, ensure that there is always something new to explore.

Educational Integration

The Gaming & Esports Center is closely tied to Syracuse University’s Esports & Communications Management B.S. program, a joint initiative between the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the Falk College of Sport & Human Dynamics. Starting July 1, the Falk College of Sport & Human Dynamics will be known as the Falk College of Sport, focusing on sport-related disciplines. This program equips students with a broad range of skills, including broadcasting and production, business management, content creation, communications, entrepreneurship, event management, marketing, and visual and media design.

Broadcasting and Production

The broadcasting booth at the center is equipped with advanced tools for professional-grade streaming and production. This includes PTZOptics cameras, professional audio equipment, Blackmagic Video Hubs and Multiviewers, and Stream Decks coordinated by state-of-the-art streaming servers. These resources allow students to gain hands-on experience in broadcasting and production, preparing them for careers in the esports and media industries.

Community Events and Tournaments

The Gaming & Esports Center is designed to host tournaments and community events, bringing students together to compete, learn, and socialize. The large screens and broadcasting capabilities make it an ideal venue for live events, allowing students to participate in or watch competitions in a dynamic and engaging environment.

Future Development

Syracuse University is committed to continuously improving and expanding its esports facilities. The university plans to develop more facilities on campus, further enhancing the gaming and esports experience for its students. This ongoing development reflects the university’s dedication to supporting the growing interest in esports and providing students with the best possible resources to excel in this field.

The new Gaming & Esports Center at Syracuse University is a significant step forward in fostering a vibrant esports community and providing students with the tools and environment they need to succeed in the gaming and esports industry.
